U-ball Live: lebron James had to return to Los Angeles as the Los Angeles Lakers played the Atlanta Hawks in the final game of their current six-game road trip.Lebron missed his third straight game with the Lakers because of swelling in his left knee.Without lebron, the Lakers lost 121-129 to the Atlanta Hawks, their third straight loss.Frank Vogel broke the news of lebron’s return to Los Angeles before the Lakers’ game against the Hawks.”There’s still a lot of swelling,” the Lakers coach said of lebron James’ knee during his pregame media session.He won’t play today.Just got back to L.A. for treatment and got a head start.So he won’t be here today.”Asked if he was overly concerned since lebron lost three straight games, Vogel replied: “As long as there’s swelling, he’ll go out.Hopefully we can get him back soon.The Los Angeles Lakers missed lebron James for various reasons this season.He missed two games for the Lakers in late October 2021 because of a sore right ankle.He then missed eight straight games from Nov. 4-17 with an abdominal strain.Lebron was subsequently suspended for one game for an altercation with Detroit pistons’ Isaiah Stewart during a Game against the New York Knicks on November 23, 2021.The last game lebron missed before missing three was against the Sacramento Kings on Nov. 30.Lebron had to sit out that game because he reported a false positive test for COVID-19.However, a 15-game absence hasn’t stopped lebron James from coming back and producing some MVP-caliber form.He is averaging 29.1 points per game, second only to Kevin Durant (29.3) and tied with Joel Embiid for the league scoring title.It was the most points lebron has scored since averaging 29.7 during the 2009-10 season.From a team standpoint, the Lakers are better off with lebron than without him.The Lakers are 19-17 with lebron and 5-10 without the 37-year-old superstar.
