The forthcoming BMW I7 could be the first truly luxury electric car

The upcoming BMW 7 system is on the way and will be one of the most interesting cars in the brand’s lineup.Between electrification, technology and new design, the 7 Series will be completely different from any other 7 series before it.The first BMW 7 is an electric i7. In addition to the BMW 7 series, there will be an all-electric BMW I7.While official details are scarce, we do know some inside stories and some information that has been reported. For example: We know that the i7 will use the same G70 chassis as the standard 7 series, rather than its own unique electrical architecture. It will reportedly be equipped with a tri-motor powertrain, dual motors in the rear axle and single motors in the front axle.It may be the same as the three-motor setup that powers the M Performance variant of the upcoming BMW I5.BMW recently showed off an upcoming technical feature of its new 7 system, its giant backseat cinema screen. The huge cinema screen will be very interesting for backseat passengers as they will be immersed in the full cinema experience, combined with the new Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system. For the new 7 Series, BMW will introduce a new variant of the already excellent B58 engine, called the B58 TU2.According to our sources, it will produce 370 horsepower, which would make it the most powerful aircraft variant of the B58 engine, the M Performance.Considering the current M Performance model produces 382 HP, the upcoming M Performance model for the new B58 TU2 could be closer to 400 HP, which would be cool. However, in addition to the extra power, the new B58 engine should also undergo some other mechanical updates to make it smoother, more efficient, more sensitive and provide better thermal management.BMW has always marketed the 7 Series as a sporty alternative to the S-class and eschews ultra-luxury features. With the new 7 system, however, BMW is trying to lean into its luxury side. One of the more interesting luxury options for the new 7ER will be its fully automatic doors, similar to those of a Rolls-Royce.So you can sit in the back seat and just press a button to close the door, making life easier for back-seat passengers. This is probably the most interesting/nervous thing about the new 7 Series for BMW fans.It has been known for some time that BMW will eschewing its traditional dual halo design, opting instead for a new split headlight design.Spy photos have shown some of the new designs and have caused controversy among enthusiasts. So it will be interesting to see how BMW implements this new design and how customers react.
